Shooting a segment for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" proved a bit too much for songstress Jessica Simpson on Monday (Feb. 21). The chanteuse checked into a Chicago hospital on Monday with a stomach virus.

According to media reports, Simpson, 24, briefly became dehydrated and was admitted and quickly treated at a Chicago-area hospital. The singer was released and is now back in Los Angeles prepared to do what she does best -- promote her albums and television shows and deny that her marriage to Nick Lachey is on the rocks.

Simpson was taping "Red Carpet Makeovers with Jessica Simpson," a pre-Oscars "Oprah" spot slated to air on Friday's (Feb. 25) show. Lara Flynn Boyle and Ashanti are also scheduled to appear.

If the past week has taught us anything, it's that celebrities have been hit hard by the flu vaccine shortage. Michael Jackson's trial was briefly delayed as the singer was pumped full of fluids, while Jennifer Lopez canceled concert appearances after she began feeling flu-sy.
